PCA/ACA International Meetings

Dates of the conference: Tuesday, July 31st through Saturday, August 4th, 2007 Sessions on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday with group excursions available on Wednesday and Friday, August 1st and 3rd.

Single standard room: 17,000 Kronurs
Double standard room: 19,300 Kronurs
(This includes VAT and breakfast.)

The conference has a block of 50 rooms at this hotel.

Conference Registration Fee: $450.
The registration fee includes three lunches at the meeting site, a welcome reception, the conference dinner for the participant, and one excursion (The Golden Circle Tour). Spouses or partners who want to participate in the conference social events and/or sessions are welcome but must also pay the conference registration fee.

Deadline for Registration:
The deadline for registration is May 31, 2007. Please send check for registration to Douglas A. Noverr, Conference Organizer and Coordinator, Department of Writing, Rhetoric and American Cultures, 235 Bessey Hall, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI 48824-1033. You do not have to be a current member of the Popular Culture Association or the American Culture Association in order to register for or to participate in the conference. Cancellations with refunds of registration due to illness or other extenuating circumstances will, of course, be recognized.

Location of conference:

The Askja House on the University of Iceland campus, only a 15 minute walk from the Radisson SAS Saga Hotel.

Air Transportation:
Icelandair is the major air carrier to Iceland. Consult their website for fares. Icelandair flies to Reykjavik from Baltimore, Washington Dulles, Boston, New York, and Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Call for papers and presentations:

Proposals for individual presentations or panels are invited for the Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association International Meeting scheduled for Reykjavik, Iceland, July 31, 2007 through August 4, 2007. Sessions will be held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday with Wednesday and Friday open for siteseeing and excursions. Proposals with an international and global focus as well as presentations with a cross-cultural and comparative basis are especially welcomed. Presentations related to Iceland and its history, culture, and literature are also welcomed. All proposals will be seriously considered, and proposals will be immediately vetted out for review with quick turnaround and acceptance. Proposals should be 500-700 words in length, and the presentations should be timed for no more than 20 minutes in length. Send proposals electronically to Douglas A. Noverr (noverr@msu.edu). You must be registered for the conference in order to present.
