Second Annual Finland Popular Culture Association Summer School

"Popular Culture Studies Now and in the Future"

Welcome to the Second Annual Finland Popular Culture Association Summer School! We will welcome papers concerning the problems (methodological, institutional, cultural, regional etc.) of the study of popular, especially putting on emphasis on papers which valorize researchers/ teachers personal experiences in this area, for example, when confronting the academic world or media.

Deadline for proposals:  April 15th, 2012

We will review the proposals as they come in and send acceptance letters quickly.

Keynote Speaker: Professor Bruce Johnson, Adjunct Professor, Music, Media, Communications and Cultural Studies, Macquarie University, Australia

Keynote Title: "Finnishness, sound and approaches to popular music studies"

Airport transportation and ferry transportation to the island will be arranged.

Summer School Registration: 100 € (Includes ferry-trip to Seili Island, morning and afternoon food and drinks breaks; accomodation; lunch and dinner)

Organizational Information: PCA-Finland is a Scandinavian branch of forthcoming Popular Culture Association Europe and regional affiliate of the ACA and PCA. PCA-Finland will be organizing conferences together with European branch located in Cambridge/London. Its first annual summer school was held in Turku, Finland, in August 2011.
