The Michael Schoenecke Travel Grant For Graduate Students to the National Conference
For 2012, the Endowment Board has decided to award 32 grants @ $300 each. This grant is open to all graduate students in accredited programs. These grants are named after Professor Michael Schoenecke of Texas Tech University, who has for many years provided dedicated leadership to the organizations, national and regional, in terms of encouraging and supporting graduate student participation and hosting professional development sessions.
Applicants can be either M.A. or Ph.D. level students and should complete the application process detailed below and submit it electronically to Endowment Director Fred Isaac at fredisaac@aol.com no later than January 7, 2012. Please note that applicants may apply for only one PCA/ACA grant in any given year.
To be considered for the Schoenecke Graduate Student Travel Grant, students must fill out the application form (see below for PDF)
Proposals will be evaluated on
- quality of the paper's thesis and scope
- extent to which the paper reflects and contributes to the study of Popular Culture Studies and/or American Culture Studies
These grants should be considered a supplement to present at the national conference. There are many applications; applicants should make financial arrangements to attend even if a grant is not awarded.
Thank you to all of the applicants for Michael Schoenecke Grant funding. The deadline has now closed.
