World's Fairs & Expositions
Call for Papers: World Fairs and Expositions
Please make plans to attend our annual conference, PCA/ACA 2012 National Conference, Boston, Massachusetts,
Wednesday, April 11 - Saturday, April 14
Deadline for proposal submissions is December 15, 2011.
The 2012 National Conference will be held in Boston from April 11 to 14, 2012 at the Copley Marriott Hotel in Boston. This was the same place where the 2007 conference was held. Papers on any and all aspects of world’s fairs and expositions will be considered. This includes world fairs, specialized exhibitions, garden shows, centennial celebrations, and book fairs. In the past, we have done presentations on the art and architecture of fairs, ethnic sensibilities in representation, and significance of artifacts within the pavilions. Controversy will not be shunned!
This is a wonderful opportunity for graduate students to present their research to a wider audience and to network with individuals of similar interests. For graduate students and new academics: PCA/ACA Endowment Grants offers 54 travel grants to the conference as well as research and collections grants. The deadline for submitting applications for grants is January 7, 2012. For an overview of each grant go to: http://www.pcaaca.org/grant/overview.php
From the process that PCA/ACA started last year, all panelists will need to submit an abstract of their proposal online. For Conference details click http://www.pcaaca.org/conference/national.php
