Visual & Verbal Culture
The Popular Culture Association area formerly known as Literature and Visual Art invites papers on relations of the verbal and the visual in culture.
Papers in the past have included discussions of film adaptations, book illustrations, poetry in performance, and issues in graphic novels.
This year presentations already accepted involve the large puppet play The Warhorse, “Slumdogs and Sweethearts: The Internationalization of Indian Cinema,” and a paper on adapting Keats’s letters to the screen in Bright Star.
