Mystery & Detective Fiction
For Conference details click http://www.pcaaca.org/conference/national.php
Deadline for proposal submissions is December 15.
We welcome proposals for individual papers or panels on any aspect of mystery & detective fiction, including history, criticism, theory, and current trends.
At this conference, we would like to highlight works by Southern mystery and crime writers, especially by authors living in or writing about New Orleans.
Also of particular interest are papers that focus on current developments in the genre of detective, mystery, and crime literature. There is particular interest in the transformation of mysteries from written texts into films or other media and the appearance of mysteries in works that cross genre boundaries such as computer games, graphic novels, film, and television. We encourage papers on the current use and revision of the detective “formula,” the work of emerging and the international authors, recurring themes in contemporary mysteries, the mystery series, and the appeal and reception of the mystery.
Additional topics include classic, historical, feminist, gothic, hardboiled and regional detective fiction.
Proposals must include a title and an abstract of 150-250 words. Submit proposals to one conference program area only.
In your proposal include complete contact information (name, home address, email, phone, affiliation if any). Also, categorize your paper by type of detective fiction such as “cozy,” “noir,” “feminist,” “hard-boiled,” “regional” or “cross-genre.”
