H-PCAACA Discussion List

WELCOME

The individuals who comprise the PCA/ACA are a group of scholars and enthusiasts who study popular culture. The PCA/ACA offers a venue to come together and share ideas and interests about the field or about a particular subject within the field. It also provides publication opportunities and sponsors the PCA/ACA Endowment.

The phrase "Popular Culture" is difficult to pin down. The web offers several definitions. Our organization's list of Subject Areas & Chairs shows the intricacies of the term's meaning. All of the Subject Areas, as diverse as they are, have as their focus one common denominator--the study of the mainstream culture or that which is popular with the masses.

To learn more about us, PCA/ACA welcomes you to explore this site. The site contains information about our history, mission, and goals. It's where you'll find travel grants to help pay for expenses incurred traveling to our National Conference--which is held once a year at a major U.S. city. Find here, too, information about our endowments grants and links to affiliated organizations. Click on the Subject Areas & Chairs menu at left for links to Calls for Papers for each Area. Now you can submit your proposals online! Go to http://ncp.pcaaca.org. Although the site is pretty user friendly, find general instructions here--submitting a proposal.

We invite you to support this organization and help us fund our grants by donating to the endowments.

To access specific information, click on the menu items listed at left in the blue margin. Sub-menus appear below the main menus and contain additional information that may be of interest to you.

We are always pleased to hear from and correspond with individuals interested in the PCA/ACA. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions, please address them to the following people:
